Week of August 19, 2008
Monday: TSW describe three methods of investigation, identify benefits of science in the world around you, and describe jobs that use science.
*HW: Imagine a discovery activity: Imagine yourself as a research scientist. Write a paragraph describing your field of study and the reason you chose it. Describe what discovery you would most like to make in your field and what benefits your discovery would give to the world. Illustrate.
Tuesday: TSW complete the directed reading workbook pages and listen as students share their “Imagine a Discovery” stories. TSW practice vocabulary terms by playing basketball when they get the correct answer.
*HW: Study for the quiz. Make some note cards or have your parents give the words out for you to learn.
Wednesday: **Quiz over the vocabulary terms in chapter one. Bring composition books. TSW go over expectations in the composition book. TSW identify steps used in the scientific methods and formulate testable hypothesis.
Thursday: Lab Bring your composition books.
TSW identify and use steps in the scientific method to solve a problem.
Friday: TSW identify the limitations of models and describe theories and laws.
